Robert,

Using a tool is good advice. My fingers aren't that big (a blessing in
action work if you ask me) so I wipe the fried chicken grease off them,
put my elbow to the sky and insert my hand, palm toward the strings, in
front of the hammers. With a little practice (and in mouse country
you'll get it) it becomes pretty easy to navigate even a whole set of
springs back into position mostly by feel. Sounds like you better not
pull the action on this one. Grab or make a couple tools that you think
will work and get the job done one way or the other.
