It does. Schaff warns against it in their catalog.

I don't think a soldering iron will melt aluminium.

Subject: temp.setting

Hi folks,
Just ordered the temp.control unit for soldering iron tool used in key bushing easing etc. My question is, how to set the control so as to not melt aluminum pieces, and what is the best setting for key easing?

Thanks,
Rick Ucci/Ucci Piano
