I've done the plain one line listing and display ad. I've also been in all the regional books. IMHO, it is not worth the money. Think about when you use the yellow pages. I rarely look at the display ads. If I am looking for a part in a junk yard, for example, I just go down through the list making calls. Invest in lettering on your vehicle. Also invest in maintaining the customers you already have through followup reminders like post cards. I also send Thank You cards after every tuning and every referral. Once you get a customer make sure you keep them. I use the attached Word files printed on heavy card stock for the thank you cards. I also hand write a note when I sign it, trying to personalize it with something unique to that visit (say something about what we discussed, the pets, etc.) Dean Dean May cell 812.239.3359 PianoRebuilders.com 812.235.5272 Terre Haute IN 47802 Word Doc files at: http://tinyurl.com/4xzvz http://tinyurl.com/4torj Direct ptg.org URLs: https://www.moypiano.com/ptg/files/attachments/96/e5/42/ff/ DeansThankYou4X5.doc https://www.moypiano.com/ptg/files/attachments/58/d9/0c/21/ DeansThankYoupg24X5.doc -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org] On Behalf Of Doug Renz Piano Tuning / Repair Sent: Wednesday, March 23, 2005 10:42 AM To: pianotech@ptg.org Subject: Ad Prices for Yellow Pages I am trying to plan for yellow page ads for next years phone book and trying to see if the price quoted is "average". $125 a month for a 16th page display graphic ad. $80 a month for 1 inch text ad in main section and 1 free in "suburban" section. I heard on the list that a yellow page ad should cost no more than 1 tuning. Is this true or just a guideline? This yellow page ad reaches a large city of 1.2 million residents. The sales person said that graphic display ad's get more calls but I'm not sure if yellow page ads work as well as "word of mouth, networking" advertising. What do you think?
