Hi, Joe. I bored a pair at 10 degrees, and I noticed that as I decreased the angle to 9, and then to 8 degrees, that clearance increased. That is why I thought that 8 would work for the whole section. 10 was really tight. I just never saw, or didn't notice, a fan in bass boring angles before ----- Original Message ----- From: Joseph Garrett To: pianotech Sent: Monday, April 10, 2006 10:27 AM Subject: Re: Steinway Hammer Boring Angles I've found that anything over 10 degrees will cause clearance problems. I tend to bore hammers so that the hammer is as parallel to the string(s) as possible and not create the aforementioned clearance problem. YMMV <G> Joe Garrett, R.P.T.
