Which reminds me... Whislt touring the wild west this summer I picked
up a bundle of tanned Elk hide on an impulse. Anyone have any comments
on the potential uses of this stuff in pianos ?

Cheers

I've encountered a couple of new Steinways recently with very loud hammer
tail to backcheck leather contact noise--especially audible on a soft blow.
The leather looks and feels relatively normal but the noise is definitely
bothersome. What is the likely cause and remedy.
