I don't know much about pricing but I was just reading about this issue in
Larry Fine's 03-04 supplement.  Depending on the brand, anything from 15 to
25% is standard.  

In addition, it sounds like manufacturers are getting into the game by
inflating their wholesale price and then selling cheaper to retailers who
buy in large quantity.  You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

Sounds like car salesmen to me.
