Scruffing -was - Over-Strike vs Under-Strike

Stiffer shanks would also have to resist breaking proportionately more,
and they will have a much higher reasonant frequency.  Not necessarilly
a good thing....  Seems like there is always a tradeoff.

    Intuitively, it seems like scruffing and flex are both power and clarity
    robbers.  Could super stiff shanks help minimize both?
