Some people will try anything.
I just tried using my Phillips Sonicare Elite electric toothbrush ($110) on the original dampers of my 1885 Mathushek Upright. The brush buzzes at C4, setting the bristles to work at 261 mini-strokes per second.
The results were fast and excellent! For the moment, anyway, the buzz-treated dampers have lost all their buzz and sound like new dampers.
Yes, Conrad, just remember to use _your_ toothbrush on _your_ piano.
(The brush heads are replaceable, and there are cheaper versions of this brushmachine, so perhaps I'm not totally bonkers.)
O.K., everyone start your brushes, and I look forward to your reports.
