I handle the Hallet & Davis pianos and they are made in a couple of
different places.  I am pretty sure the uprights are made by Dungbi.  Didn't
take time to check the spelling, but that's what you get for listening to a
beginner.

FYI, I think this statement is semi-incorrect. I believe the
Hallet-Davis is made by the Beijing Piano Co. as one of their several
stencil pianos.
According to Joe Swenson, tech rep at Geneva International, the
Nordiska is made in a seperate manufacturing facility on the Beijing
Piano "campus",  and recently benefitting from lots of input from
Geneva International in the area of quality control, improved scale
design, etc.
It's a very good thing your dealer friend is doing right by the
customer, and I hope the manufacturer will be interested in fixing the
quality control problems in the factory, not the customer's home.
