S Consoles

John,

I only have one in my database, and it's a bit harder than a regular piano,
but not terribly so. I haven't had the opportunity to try the CyberHammer on
it yet, but I bet it would help tremendously. I'm almost certain that the
one I have is easier since it has a full DC system and is tuned once a year
around the same time each year, all of which helps mightily.

There is this 1951 Steinway model P that was always terrible to tune, but
with the CyberHammer it was very cooperative. I'm actually not dreading
tuning it anymore, which is pleasantly surprising.

I have a few people, that have me tune them.
I HATE THEM. (The pianos)
I suppose mainly, because, I can't figure out how to tune them
satisfactorily.
I have tried, lubricating the friction points with Goose Juice and CLP,
didn't help.
I tried to just bring them to tune and stop. Didn't work.
Someone had said they just brought them up to the point of tune and stopped.
What happens if they are high, and you have to bring them down? Like in a
period of high humidity.
I am almost ready to refuse to tune them, I find them such a hassle.

Help! Quick!

My sister-in-law is on the hunt for a used piano and has asked me to look at
a Steinway Console for her. It's been a long, long time since I've serviced
any of these and only remember that I didn't like them. Besides difficulty
in tuning is there anything else I can say to persuade her to look
elsewhere?

E-mail privately if you don't want to go on record..... :-)
