how long does the "twist" last before it comes loose again? I have had great success with just twisting it 1.5 to 2 times, that last years. Usually when I need to twist a bass string the problem was that the people in the factory neglected to do it in the first place. __________________________ Gregory P. If it's the string itself rattling, I would twist it in the direction of the winding, most of the time that will take care of it. But what if it already has a twist (or two) in it? If the damper wire is rattling against it you need to realign the damper properly. But that wouldn't be a bass string rattle! Avery Todd P.S.
