rattling wound strings

how long does the "twist"
last before it comes loose again?

I have had great success with just twisting it 1.5 to 2 times, that last
years.

Usually when I need to twist a bass string the problem was that the people
in the factory neglected to do it in the first place.

Gregory,

It depends on what is rattling.

If it's the string itself rattling, I would twist it in the direction of
the winding, most of the time that will take care of it.

But what if it already has a twist (or two) in it?

If the damper wire is rattling against it you need to realign the damper
properly.

But that wouldn't be a bass string rattle!

P.S. I really wish people would include what they're responding to!!!!!!
