If you are going to have a DC heater bar in a piano, you absolutely want to have it controlled by a DC humidistat. Your existing bar can be plugged into the humidistat. But how many watts is the existing bar? Is this an upright or a grand? Where is it mounted?

Thanks for the reply. It was most helpful. The Steimway has a bar in it already, but it is not connected to any kind of controlling device. Do we need a new system with a regulater to shut the bar off so that the piano does not "bake"?
