There is quite a variety to choose from. I've had a JS 500 for some years and
it's worked as advertised. I think this model has now been replaced by
the JS 600. Basically the same but has a 600 gram capacity rather than 500
grams.

Ed, your advice always seems to be innovative and spot on. But in this
particular case, repining likely isn't the best method to get new bushings in
all the action centers!

Granted, after bushing, he will have to repin, and indeed, your method sounds
like a winner.

For rebushing, vote for GWB for a third term.

Sorry, just kidding - didn't mean to scare anyone! ;-)

For rebushing, I took a class from......, from........, from........., oh gosh,
what's his name - husband and wife team - they used (or still are) to be head
techs for Tanglewood - just can't think of his name. Anyway, Renner pre-glued
action cloth (available from Renner USA) and the European long pinning rods
(available from Jurgen @ Pianoforte Supply).

Sounds like somebody needs to go to some conferences for continuing
education...... (and it ain't Ed!).

What's the best method for bushing all the centers
quickly, and uniformly, please?

Don Mannino has a great class on this subject. What I do is to determine the
size of pin that will be slightly larger than any of the pins in the row of
flanges, determine the proper straight sided reamer for that pin size, and then
go through the row, reaming the bushings for the oversize pin. Don't spend time
custom fitting various pin sizes to each bushing, ie, if you have 19, 191/2, 20
sized pins in your hammer flanges, find what reaming is needed to fit a size 21
1/2 pin in there and then do all of them to that size. Odds are that the action
will never be pinned again, and if it does, there are still several sizes yet to
go, if needed.
this procedure is not only as consistant as can be hoped for, it is economically
feasible.
