Oh I spent an hour with the husband showing him the "whys" that it was POS, why it was not worth spending another penny on, suggesting Piano Book and supplement, and even suggesting they go see Mark Dvorak (the only salesman in town I know well enough to trust) and have them check out the new Essex pianos, which Macij ("Mashi") said he really rather liked in an unsolicited evaluation of the things. The man, like sooooooo many other people, thought "a piano is a piano is a piano". She was very circumspect, suggesting she was NOT happy he bought something without first consulting her. But after the busy last week, I sure didn't want to get into anything "domestic". It was just incredibly discouraging to hear her make music which simply was not possible to make on this thing, and realize what she could do with a proper instrument............. On the other hand, they live a lot better than I, and if they really want to finer instrument they can find ways to afford it- If one of their nice cars had been bought used instead of new, the savings alone would have gotten an entry level grand......... It was just incredibly sad. les -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Martin Wisenbaker Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2007 5:43 AM To: pianotech at ptg.org Subject: Re: stumped After learning of the needs of the PSO, I would have asked what type of music the wife played. Once learning that she is a concert pianist I would have then recommended that she should have a fine grand piano instead of someone else's problems and not spent any more time on what was there.
