Best way I know of is to simply opt out of receiving the list in email 
form.  You can still be a subscriber and contribute to the list all you 
want. Just read whatever posts interest you from the archives and reply 
from there.

                For those more computer savvy than I, is there a way to
    block
    individual contributors to a list group?

                I use MICROSOFT outlook.
