When I first moved to SF in 1975, right after piano tuning school, a fellow was advertising his Hawaii piano business. I called him and tried to buy the business, but he thought I was too green so he sold it to Leonard Hanocheck, who was in the Bay Area at the time...

Hey Big Piano Man,

You ever run into Leonard Hanocheck over there, I used to know him 20 years ago in the San Jose area. Say Aloha to him from Fenton Murray

Aloha, My wife makes all of my string covers. I supply her with the templates and she makes them up. But we get $300 retail for each one including me delivering it. I know that sounds high but the value is there when you consider the cost of new strings every 10 or 12 years for your Grand piano setting in an open house by the ocean. What would you be willing to pay for them. I'm sure she would rather stay home and make covers than work a job somewhere. Of course you would need to send a template for anything I don't have on file yet. Check my web site for a list of templates on file. www.bgpianoman.com We use Schaff felt and they have a fancy gold stitch with a finished boarder. The rod pockets are fixed in place no Velcro. I never did like that on covers. Every time a customer takes it off they end up messed up. On ours you can just slide the dowel rod out of the pocket if your going to clean it. For now we are not offering to add embroidery of piano name. We have a small machine big enough to stitch out a name about 7.5 inches long, but we are not sure about trade mark or copy rights. Plus I have not had a customer ask for it unless I bring it up. If anyone knows a better sourse for the felt let me know. I think Schaff costs about 16 or 17 $$ per yard.

Brett
