Subject: Noisy Yamaha Strings

Good Morning: A new customer has a Yamaha GC1 that has some noisy
bass strings. That is, these strings have a very prominent high harmonic
that stands out and is very unmusical. For example, the left unison of
C#2 has this problem, but the right unison has it only to a very slight
degree. String settling did nothing, and voicing only quieted the string
down some, but did not eliminate it. Greg at Yamaha Tech support would
only say that this is a characteristic of Yamaha strings and is not
considered a manufacturing defect, therefore is not covered by the
warranty. So he suggested the customer spring for some Arledge or Mapes
strings, at her cost. Any one have a better idea?

Thanks,
