Grasshopper, the tool is made from two items. A pipe cleaner and a length of player piano tubing. Insert the pipe cleaner into the tubing (which acts as a handle, hint: Teflon powder acts as a lubricant for insertion), allowing a half inch protrusion of the pipe cleaner beyond the tubing. Insert the tool (pipe cleaner end first) into the Teflon powder and tap the tool on the side of the container to shake loose excess material. Pick up a key with the other hand which does not hold the Teflon application tool. Insert the pipe cleaner end (which has the Teflon powder) into the balance rail bushing with your thumb orientated towards the front of the key. Use a few up & down strokes to transfer Teflon powder from the pipe cleaner to the bushing, no twisting/rotating of the tool. Here's there important part: Remove the pipe cleaner straight out (no spinning of the tool). With a slight motion of the key-holding wrist, invert and rotate the key 90 degrees and insert the pipe cleaner into the front rail bushing, with your thumb now orientated 90 degree to the front of the key. Use a few up & down strokes to transfer Teflon powder from the pipe cleaner to the bushing. In the first application to the balance rail bushing, you removed powder from two quadrants of the applicator for the balance rail bushing; upon rotating and inverting the key, you applied powder to the front rail bushing from the two remaining quadrants. A final insertion and spin of the tool into the balance rail hole finishes the application with the residual Teflon left on the tool. Time: 20 minutes per set. I hope that explanation was clear enough. It has been pointed out to me that I've been too vague on some explanations. Sorry, no jpg's available. -- Regards, Jon Page
