P22 string breakage

Hadn't thought of that.  I managed to get a tiny knot tied, but it came
dangerously close to the coil when up to pitch.

splicing, too. Had to tighten the knot with the string on the wrong side of
the pin in the v-bar, then back off tension and move the string to the
correct side of the pin.

This, combined with a steep angle from the v-bar to the coil causes the
string to want to climb up the coil when tightened.  You can try to remove
the coil and back the pin out a few rounds, but risk reduced pin tightness

      Interesting...I have begun servicing the pianos at my local high
school.  Included are two P22s.  Both had broken (and long since removed) A1
strings.  They had been gone for about 5 years :(
