The Jansen dolly is strong. It will support a truck. But it's also heavy and needs to be assembled/disassembled for each use. I have been using Laroy's dolly, which just folds up neatly, for several months now and I love it. It was a Christmas present to myself this year in order to save my back, which was in serious pain from the lifting of actions at very uncomfortable angles. If you've ever lifted one and had to set it down on, say, a packing blanket on top of the piano you know what I mean. I vote Laroy. -- Geoff Sykes -- Assoc. FWIW, from the "silent corroboration file", at least two of the best technicians here in Southern California (Richard Davenport and David Andersen--and probably others of their exceedingly high calibre) also use Laroy's dolly. It is highly unlikely that you would regret the purchase. You're the only one so far. That was basically my impression, so I think that's what I'm going to do! Thought another, similar device would be redundant, but a colleague convinced me to buy Laroy's. I haven't used the Jansen since (although we might, if someone who can't lift an action is working at a grand while the Edwards dolly is in use elsewhere). I can't find the price. Weighs app. 23 lbs. http://www.pljansen.com/serv08.htm Laroy's is $349.00 but it has bedding screws to be able to duplicate the keydip while out of the piano and even has a string height target thingee. Weighs app. 18 lbs. http://www.edwardsstringcovers.com/brochureCaddy.pdf Except for the things mentioned above, both seem to be similar as far as design is concerned. I'm thinking about getting one or the other. I'm getting old! :-) So far, the Edwards looks better because of the bedding screws and string height "target". Anyone tried both of them? Thanks.
