During the latter 1960's I worked at a store full time (Ludwig Music House) which sold Wurlis. I had tuned probably 100's of them during that time. This was when the serial numbers were just under and over the 1 million mark. As I recall, at that time the Wurlitzer spinets were better than the consoles, many of which were the Interlochen model, Then they came out with the taller concert console model which was really terrible to tune. The 1117's had only copper plated bass strings and no fallboards while the rest had solid copper and fallboards. All had the hexagonal soundboards and the calibrated element on the bridges. The hammers were guarantied never to come loose as I remember the salesman kept one submersed in a jar full of water.
