OK. I've looked up the original job proposal and worksheet. I have it in my records as a c.1895 Bosendorfer grand, approx. 213 cm in length. The name Bosendorfer did appear on the keycover in inlaid brass lettering. Both the action and keyset were replaced. The original action was a single-escapement design. Most of the original action parts were either missing or so badly mangled as to be unrepairable. The original keys were flared out so both a new keyset and a matching action stack were designed to fit the original keybed and strikeline. The original keyset and action were returned to the owner in case he ever wanted to have them restored and fitted back to the piano. The new keyset and action were designed with this possibility in mind. I did not have a digital camera in those days and was only photographing those parts of a job that were of particular interest to me. I've attached a couple more, but that is about all I have digitized. I may have a few more stashed away in boxes somewhere but not that I can lay my hands on easily. As you can see some changes were made to the original scaling. If you can send me more pictures of the case and plate it should be easier to tell if it's a Boesendorfer. Or a picture of the fallboard inscription? :-) Calin Tantareanu http://calin.haos.ro <http://calin.haos.ro/> -------------------- _____ From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Delwin D Fandrich Sent: sâmbătă, 9 iunie 2007 19:49 To: 'Pianotech List' Subject: RE: The Beauty of the Open-Faced Pinblock Well, now you make me wonder. I have all of the photographs of this piano labeled "Bosendorfer" but I could be wrong. I did this piano some fifteen years ago. I don't have a picture of the finished piano but I've attached one with the soundboard being glued in so you can see the shape. As I recall the piano was pre-1880s. I could probably find the build date with some searching.
