Steam treating hard hammers

For once, I am going to disagree with the
Esteemed Dale Irwin. People with newish
whateverbrand pianos don't want to hear that
something that is 2 years old needs to be
replaced. They can be told there are better
choices out there than what was OEM...but 'needs
to be replaced'?

Wayne, my gut tells me that your hammer
softening technique needs tweaking. Too often,
especially with steam, our initial reaction to
such little work takes away the reality that
there's more work to be done. Steam has the
quickest 'ah' time, and it also has the quickest
'ah s***' time. Steam used in conjunction with
other techniques has had long-lasting results
for moi.

Contact me off list if you want.
