Glad you enjoyed, James.

I don't know about tender, but I definitely feel delicate when I get up of a 
morning....

Looking around generally for other poetic uses of "burnished", I found one 
in no less venerable a source that "The Battle Hymn Of The Republic" (Julia 
Ward, 1861):

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnish`d rows of steel,
"As ye deal with my contemners, So with you my grace shall deal;"
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel
Since God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

There are some instances in Elizabethan poetry too.

Verily, I stray from topic, but, gentles, what would you? A change surely 
likeneth unto repose!
