It might be a jazz player found something so useful in a meantone tuning that the lack of transpositon was worth it. On our "6 Degrees" CD, there is a 1/4 comma meantone used for a Scarlatti and a Mozart piece. It is, imho, the "right" tuning for one, and "wrong" for another. I have several people tell me that it was "right" for both! I haven't had any luck selling the meantone tunings. Anything that takes the third over 21 cents just seems to bother too many people when placed on a modern piano.
