If you want a good strong case of this type then buy a Clydesdale. They make road cases for different types of PA and sound gear. I been using mine for about 15 years with no problems, very heavy duty. I haven't been very kind to my brief case and I'm sorry about it now. I noticed that my shoe repair shop offers luggage repair--so maybe there's hope for it after all. This afternoon I found some aluminum cases on the net that I would hope were better quality--at least the price suggested it. I think I paid $60-70 each twenty years ago for my two oldest ones. I bought an aluminum brief case at a truck stop last summer, but I don't like the innards so much. If I can get my old case fixed, I'll find some ingenious use for the new one. ;-) Barbara Richmond ----- Original Message ----- From: John Ross <mailto:jrpiano at win.eastlink.ca> To: Pianotech List <mailto:pianotech at ptg.org> Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 4:41 PM Subject: Re: 18'' x 12-3/4'' x 6'' ALUMINUM CASE I like you, use the aluminum cases for specialized purposes. I found they didn't stand up to every day use, rivets pulled out of hinges etc. Mind you, to be fair, I kept on putting more and more stuff in it. I now use one for all the keybed refelting stuff. Another has my two scissor jacks and wooden blocks, used to support pinblocks, and lift grands to put on a truck, or work on the legs. Having dedicated cases in a van, simplifies things. John M. A couple of mine are over twenty years old and were originially marketed as cam-corder cases. They cost more than the one listed below; I'm not sure how different in quality they are. I haven't had to have the clasps or hinges replaced, but I did have to have a new handle put on the first one fairly early on. At that time I was working at a music store that did band instrument repair, so I just took it to the instrument tech, who also repaired instrument cases. I also use a couple cheaper ones that I got within the last few years--one from Harbor Freight another from Home Depot, for some specialized stuff, so I don't open them as often. I like the way my stuff fits in them, how they fit in my van, and they fit neatly in a relatively small space in my house when I've unloaded them from the van for the night.
