Sorry, can't agree with that tip.

Before removing the hammers, ascertain if the center pinning is correct.
First look for hammers which return slowly (swing the inverted action).
Then jiggle each shank to find loose flanges. This will tell you to what
extent you may have to repin the flanges. Notice catcher material wear,
bridle strap deterioration.

Remove all hammers and flanges from the rail. Number butts and
matching flanges if butt-plate style (if not, just butts). File all hammers
on a drum sander or oscillating drum sander, repin centers if deemed
necessary. Taper Hammer heads (especially in treble).

Replace cords as to instructions in the archives.

If you're gunna do it, do it.  Why reshape the hammer surface?
Because it will never mate back to the strings otherwise.

Regulate, tune, collect check, whistle all the way to the bank.
