Another method is to mark (painter's tape) the inside of the outer rim with the general rib end locations. Next, place a small dollop of Playdough on the inner rim where the notch will be:
Put some painter's tape on the rib ends to keep them clean:
Then press the soundboard in place and you will get nice perfectly positioned imprints of the rib ends.
Notch away. Cean off any dried Playdough residue with a light sanding.
Easy and very accurate.
Oh, and....... FUN!!!!!!!
