Johns picture also shows the difference in the length from the flange 
screw to the center pin, tho the two flanges are not lined up to show it 
directly. Still... you can clearly see that the centers are nearly in 
the same spot with the same blue line intersecting them both. The newer 
flange shows it about 0.3 mm offset from the old one. But if you look at 
where the center of the flange screw hole intersects with the lines you 
see the purple line goes right through the center of the old flange 
screw hole but the newer flange is offset at least one whole blue line back.

You mentioned you had a 17 mm knuckle to centerpin length Greg on the 
new parts.  If I remember right Johns picture was just showing the 
difference between  16.3 and 16 mm lengths found from different 
manufacturers at different times.

You say this is an old A.   Just how old ?  Whats the serial number on 
this ?
