Upright Hammer Spring Replacement

These rails like to warp, causing an uneven touch, and
for that reason I like to screw a small aluminum angle
to them. 
     That said,  you can probably save a lot of
trouble by wetting the rail to soften the old glue,
and picking out the springs when in this state. Just
have your aluminum rail all made and fitted, and screw
it to the old spring rail while it's still damp, and
that will both help straighten any old warps, and stop
new ones.
