I didn't think of the split action rail, as I've only run into that once so far. But indeed, that could do it also. And then the side coming unglued is another possibility. Also many hammers are blocking in this area Classic symptom of the back separating from the block. The block and plate are being pulled forwards by the string tension. This moves the string plane closer to the action resulting in blocking hammers and late or non-lifting dampers. Second choice, the side of the case is loose.
