Or... you can do it the Laurel and Hardy way. Visit the official Laurel and
Hardy page and view the video of how they did it in The Music Box, (1932).
They give you four formats in which to view that clip from the film. It is
VERY funny.

On 4 occasions I have hoisted grand pianos to a second floor balcony with an
engine hoist with and electric winch attached to the end and two big guys
standing on the base for a counterbalance.  The hoist was disassembled to
move upstairs.  A 2X4 was screwed to the edge of the balcony to keep it from
rolling off.
