Not the sort of charm that would persuade most players! The
half-blow action, without lost motion compensation, which no maker
fits any more, is nothing but a cheap fudge. It would be easy for
makers to fit a proper una corda action to uprights without any extra
expense but apart from BlŸthner in the old days I know of no other
maker that did this for an underdamper action. Brinsmead had una
corda with the overdamper action. On the BlŸthner the dampers are
screwed to an L-beam screwed to the frame, so that the hammers and
levers can be shifted without affecting the dampers. These actions
are very easy to work on and regulate, having the added advantage
that the hammers are screwed on at the back, as in an overdamper
action, so they are easy to remove without touching the levers.
