In the temperature ranges survivable by us mammals, piano wire doesn't stretch in the long term. What the roller is doing isn't stretching the wire, it's tightening the bends across the bearing points - and mashing the edge of the bridge cap. A more effective and less destructive tool for doing the same is a string hook. Ron N
