i want to replace just the center section backchecks of an old Steinway during a partial regulation. I noticed i can buy backcheck felt. i wonder: could i get the ild felt off and glue the new on without compromising the wippen pinning? or should i just remove the backchecks anf replace them with the block, and if so, with or without a new wire? what's the easiest way to remove? thnx for any replies.
