rebuilding an old kimball

It would be good, as Gerald points out, to check on the condition of the 
brass rail used to mount both the hammers and the dampers. These double 
flange rails are not replaceable unless you can find another Kimball to 
pirate the parts from (Schaff duplicates the single flange type only). 
The damper springs are unique, too and Schaff may still have those.

Another possibility is to machine the hammer flange rail to accept 
standard wooden flanges. If you are replacing action parts, this is a 
good alternative.
