1890's Stieff, WN&G action, verdigris seized PLUS
WD-40 seized ( earlier attempt by "tech" to lubricate,
which only traps more moisture in the action, of
course ). 6 cans of non-chlorinated brake part
cleaner blasted onto centers ( with stack removed from
keys ) seems to have "done the trick"! Stack tipped
back and forth to swing hammers and "work" centers
while wet between blastings. Everything swinging very
freely, now.
Also blasted old graphite grease out of knuckles,
and brushed with brass brush while wet to "fluff" .
DEFINITE gas mask, goggles, and multiple layers of
vinyl gloves job!!!!!
This stuff will really "mess you up"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
