Subject: RE: hammer return spring string

I tuned ten years for a school district with mostly Yamaha uprights. 90% of them had broken spring loops. NEVER did I once have any teacher complain about how the action worked. I told a few teachers early on, but they didn't care, and the school district didn't want to pay for it, so it didn't get done, and no one was complaining at the time I quit.

        Les,
Respectfully ---what is your point here?
The broken cords diminish repetition and allow the springs to occasionally click on the damper levers and bend.
If we waited for the players to direct our recommendations we would all be out looking for other employment.

       Best wishes,
