Hi Andre',
Long time no hear.........When you lift the fallboard it touches the strecher. Here are other names used for this part you might know. Frontal bar: front bar (Pratt, Read & Co.) ; front rail (Baldwin, Schimmel) ; front beam;
upper beam (Kawai, Yamaha) ; stretcher (Jellen, Caskey); stiffener bar (Defebaugh); cornice (Steinway); bellyman strip.
Cheers,
Jack Houweling

Thank you for your response David.
However, I still don't know what it means, because I don't know what you mean by "cornice".
Do you mean the wooden part one looks at which is situated in front of the pinblock?
friendly greetings

Hello Andre',
In this country we refer to the cornice as the "stretcher" because it spans or stretches from one side of the case to the other.
