Hi Andre', Long time no hear.........When you lift the fallboard it touches the strecher. Here are other names used for this part you might know. Frontal bar: front bar (Pratt, Read & Co.) ; front rail (Baldwin, Schimmel) ; front beam; upper beam (Kawai, Yamaha) ; stretcher (Jellen, Caskey); stiffener bar (Defebaugh); cornice (Steinway); bellyman strip. However, I still don't know what it means, because I don't know what you mean by "cornice". Do you mean the wooden part one looks at which is situated in front of the pinblock? friendly greetings from André Oorebeek Antoni van Leeuwenhoekweg 15 1401 VW Bussum the Netherlands tel : 0031 - 35 6975840 gsm : 0031 - 652388008 concertpianoservice at planet.nl www.concertpianoservice.nl "where music is, no harm can be" On Aug 3, 2008, at 5:11 AM, David G.
