When I had to restring one about 15 years ago, the tech department told me there is no "secret" much less a printed formula to set the downbearing. He said just make a jig out of of a small piece of wood with a V cut out of one end, and sand the height of the wood to fit under the string. Then just place this jig against each accu hitch pin and put on the string. Of course you have to make the jig before unstringing the piano. I think there was an article in the PTG Journal about this, but I don't know how to locate it without thumbing though all the issues. Does anyone know where to purchase the tool to set the string height around the hitch pin? ? Thanks and Happy New Year to all. ?
