I have used air-driven palm nailer for years with great success, but I use it with a tuning pin punch I made myself. I took a long bolt 7" to 8" long (size that fits snugly into the collar of the nailer. Cut off the head and treads and drilled a hole in the bottom (about 1/2" deep) to go onto the tuning pin. Because it's mild steel the hole smoothes out like glass and never mars the tuning pin. Would never go back to the hammer. Just talked to a guy today who was pounding away with a sledge, and I asked him, "What happened to the pneumatic?" He replied that it tended to flatten out the tops of the pins and he didn't like the way they looked with the nailer......... Just a thought...... les bartlett ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: pianotech-bounces at ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces at ptg.org] On Behalf Of Dave Davis Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2008 10:44 PM To: Pianotech Subject: Pneumatic tuning pin driver for sale? I'm looking to buy an air-driven palm nailer for driving tuning pins. Anyone have a slightly used one for sale? If I get a new one, is the Danair still your favorite model?
