Recover Backchecks

Al,

Depends. What type of glue is holding it down. I’m guessing
vinegar or wallpaper paste remover for hide glue. Others, I don’t know as
I’ve never found anything that removes all of the glue from other types as
cleanly as I’d like. I’m currently replacing wippen cushion felt covering on
a very old Webber grand. The wallpaper paste removed is getting in after
about the 4th application and literally making them fall off.

Thanks to all of you who replied to my pinblock question. I'm happy to know
that it wasn't a Delignite pinblock in that piano.

I am also recovering the backchecks in this piano. Does anyone have a way to
easily remove the old buckskin? This job has always slowed me down.

Thanks,
