glue for hammers

Umm, actually the hammers I had to redo were some that my son had hung the
day before, his first venture into hanging hammers. I had no trouble with
the ones I had hung.

Would you normally find a few hammer the next day that you had to redo, if
you used hide glue, Dean?

That's the one caveat I've heard about Titebond: that alignment will shift
as the glue dries and the shanks twist. It is nice to be able to move them
around, but I'd like to know if it's the glue that causes the problem.
Thanks!

Someone recently suggested Titebond Wood Trim and Molding glue for hammer
hanging. I've used different glues in the past, most recently I've been
using hide glue. I decided to trim the molding glue on a set of upright
hammers I just hung and I loved it. It had very fast tack time, even on
joints that were very loose. The next day there were a few hammers I had to
redo. No problem, just heated them up with the blow drier and moved them
were I wanted them.
