Subject: Real Ebony wood for sharps?

Would anyone be able to enlighten me as to when real ebony wood was used for
the black keys on pianos, and when it was replaced with another type of
wood? Thank you.
Mark

Mark,

It was May 22nd 1941. Just kidding of course. There is no date
for this event .

I have seen old uprights with maple? Painted -stained sharps and brand new
piano's with ebony sharps .

Just depends---- I believe Mike Morvan is making new ebony sharps .
