Yes, for practical purposes it's a fair rule of thumb but in fact the more the wire is drawn the greater its tensile strength for a given cross section, so that a thinner wire will reach a _slightly_ smaller percentage of its breaking strength for a given pitch and speaking length. The amount involved is hardly likely to solve any practical problem. JD
