Hi David, These Erards are beautiful pianos. I recently saw a copy of a ca. 1890 newspaper advertisement for Erards stating that they were "more expensive" because they are better and worth it! The bass strings are often brass covered, and truly beautiful when new. The soundboard would be coated with good old shellac. A small soft good quality paint brush should do it. If necessary, you can tint the shellac with some powdered pigments to match the color of the rest of the shellac. ... and yes, it is definitely worth trying CA on those loose pins.
