Pitman length gauge

I use the coupler,also, and it works very well.When i was young and  
dumb,BC-{before the coupler},I had about a dozen of Hammer shanks pre- 
cut in different lenght from 1.5"" in 1/8" increments.Hammer shanks  
are easy to slip under the lever and it gives very accurate   
reading...When  appropriate lenght of shank is found-then it is very  
easy to cut the dowel and do the rest.......
Regarding drilling-enlarging the pitman hole-I use UNIBIT  Drill to  
enlarge the hole to 1" in dia...I will have this pitman retrofit kit  
in my class,if interested to see it-just stop by      Isaac
