Newpaper ads and phone book entries are nice, but a mobile ad catches eyes everywhere you drive it! I got a call yesterday afternoon from a woman who saw my truck sitting in a parking lot while I was getting some lunch. The signage cost me under $100 and has paid for itself many times over. In my case, I went with permanent lettering on the side windows of the extended cab and on the back window of the truck topper (which, unfortunately, got broken during an act of kindness a couple weeks ago -- my beautiful sign, all gone!). I'm also convinced that new customers are more likely to call me once they've seen my truck parked at a neighbor's house. I have absolutely no hard data to back that up, but I know it's a factor when I need to call someone for services. Population size undoubtedly plays a role in all this, too, as most of my work is in a very small city. Your results may vary.... What has been your experiences with this method? I prefer magnetic so I can take it off when my car is sitting for a period of time so no one will see that I have tools to steal. But then, if I got into an accident, would having the sign be more liability for me? Or am I just worrying too much. I also would like to know if your business has increased because of the signs.
