[pianotech] Getting started in figuring scaling

Greetings,
 
      Is this the formula used for scaling..  or are other formulas used as 
it relates to pianos and piano scaling? 
 
f = 1/2L ^T / m/l
 
where;
 
f = fequency
L = effective length of wire
T = tension
m/l = unit of mass per length of wire  
 
  What is some suggested reading about this?
