People living in apartment buildings shouldn't throw stones... Seriously, there is nothing that can be done to reduce sound, especially with a grand piano. Foam, or other substances, will not reduce the volume of sound. Short of muffling the sound with something directly on the strings, the only solution for the player is to work out some sort of agreement with the other residents on when playing would be acceptable.
